Taking part in a photography workshop with the Wiener Symphoniker at the Wiener Konzerthaus was a rare and deeply inspiring experience. We were given the exceptional opportunity to attend and photograph two complete rehearsals for an upcoming concert—moments that are usually hidden from the public.

Being present during rehearsals allowed us to witness the orchestra in its purest form: intense concentration, quiet communication, and the subtle interaction between conductor and musicians. Without stage lights or an audience, the focus shifted to precision, emotion, and the collective energy that slowly transforms notes into music.

From a photographic perspective, the workshop offered outstanding highlights: expressive gestures of the conductor, the rhythm of bows moving in unison, fleeting glances between musicians, and the elegant architecture of the Konzerthaus framing the scene. Capturing these moments required sensitivity, timing, and respect for the music itself.

Photographing the Vienna Symphony Orchestra during rehearsal was a reminder that music is not only heard—it can be seen. A workshop that combined artistic discipline, cultural heritage, and visual storytelling at the highest level.
